Terrestrial Distribution
Depending on the quality of your existing aerial system, additional rooms (points) can be added throughout your property with minimum fuss. This involves the installation of a distribution unit and new cable routed through to each room. The distribution unit can be placed internally or externally depending on the layout of the property and the points required. There is no limit to the amount of rooms that can run off one aerial but in general, the more rooms, the more technical the job becomes.
In 'laymans terms', the signal from your aerial reduces in strength for every new point that is added. Therefore, if your existing aerial is not up to digital standard, we will advise on an aerial upgrade BEFORE any rooms are added to your system. This is something an engineer can confirm before you commit to having any work done. Additional Point installation costs approx. £60-80+VAT per room.
Satellite (Sky FreeSat) Distribution
Many properties include a Sky satellite system to the main TV either in addition to or as an alternative to terrestrial. Sky can be viewed in other rooms by routing a length of cable from the Sky box to the required room/s (Sky Link). This means that the 2nd TV is able to show the Sky channel that has been selected on the Sky box. There is also the option to take control of the Sky box by attaching a 'sky eye' to the 2nd TV and the use of a 2nd remote control. This will allow you to select the Sky channel you want without running into the room where the Sky box is. However the compromise is that both rooms CANNOT watch different Sky channels at the same time. A Sky Link installation costs £60+VAT (£100-£110+VAT with Sky Eye & Remote)
The only way to access different channels in different rooms is to have another Sky box installed which usually involves subscribing to Sky 'MultiRoom'. However if you do have access to a 2nd Sky box, we can install the link for you which would involve an upgrade to the dish LNB (see below for details).
Satellite (BBC FreeSat) Distribution
The latest product on the market requires no subscription and set top boxes (STB) can be purchased from various retailers. If you already have a FreeSat box/TV and dish installed, you have the option to receive FreeSat in other rooms as long as you provide these rooms with another STB or TV. In comparison to Sky FreeSat, a link CANNOT be installed directly from the FreeSat box and has to be routed from the dish. This usually involves upgrading the Single LNB (the part where cables plug into the dish) to a Quad (4-way) LNB to enable another 1-3 rooms to be added. Once you have invested in the cost to upgrade your LNB for your 2nd room, additional rooms tend to work out cheaper. Installation costs for the 2nd room link costs £55+VAT (if your dish has Quad LNB) or £115+VAT (dish does not have Quad LNB).
