There are 2 important factors to consider when choosing between terrestrial TV (Freeview) or satellite (FreeSat):

1.  Location
If your property is in a location that DOES NOT have a 'line of sight ' to a Granada transmitter (e.g. Dee Valley, Wirral), it is very likely that you will only be able to receive Freeview channels from Wales.  This means that you will receive Welsh variations on certain channels, i.e. Welsh regional news instead of Granada Reports.  If you would prefer to have the option of receiving Granada TV, FreeSat can either compliment your Freeview system or simply replace it altogether.

2.  High Definition
High Definition (HD) channels are now being broadcast to provide a better picture quality for large TVs. If your TV is 32" or larger, you will see a considerable improvement when viewing High Definition channels.  However, HD is not particularly important for TVs smaller than 32" as it is difficult to notice any improvement on screens of this size. To date, Freeview IS NOT yet broadcasting HD channels but HD IS available via FreeSat.
